Meaningful Returns

Did you know you can have a sentimental attachment to a couch? Of course you did. You probably have a sentimental attachment to something even more ubiquitous than an old couch. I have a pair of Nike athletic socks that fit me just right, and they should have been in the trash years ago, but I keep wearing them.

That’s why this money thing is so hard. Because you can absolutely nail the test, know all the right answers to all the questions about budgeting and spending and saving and investing and debt and college and all the rest, but you can’t explain why you still have the Nike socks in your drawer. It’s the unpredictable, emotional, human side of things that complicates matters.
