I read an article today in the Wall Street Journal about a woman who found out she had breast cancer from an automated email generated from some testing she had done. She was the one calling her doctor about the results rather than vice versa, simply because the flow of information was always on and not meant to actually care for the end patient.
Information is good! It can be anyway. But sometimes we get good—or at least correct—information in harmful ways.
When it comes to our money, we don’t need an automated system of ever-flowing information, even “correct” information. What we need is someone who cares enough about us to take relevant information and deliver it in a way that leads to our flourishing. Someone who can help turn information into wisdom.
