Quantum planning

The point of planning is not to tell the future, but to use the future as a reverence point that helps us wake up to the present.

Waking up means: self-awareness and other-awareness, doing the next thing and then the next, breathing in the joy of being alive right now, hoping that the hardness of today will ease up in some tomorrow.

Notice that the future is not the reference point. Planning is in some unintuitive ways very much about the past. What have we carried to now, what are our cumulative experiences, what and who have led us here?

So we use the past and the future to help orient us to the present, so that we live with as much clarity and courage as we can muster in a world of uncertainty. Because of this, planning is important work to be done well.
