Bird watching

When you go bird watching with a local Audubon group, you’ll discover fairly quickly that you must do much more than simply look with your eyes. You do lots more walking, and standing still, and mostly listening. But after awhile and with some practice you may get to watch some birds.

Maybe the first step toward a healthier financial life is to find the equivalent of a local Audubon group, folks who are passionate about the subject and who will welcome you on the journey with open arms.

And the second step might be just that: lots of proverbial walking, of learning to watch and be aware of your money patterns with your whole self. At first this will feel foreign and bewildering and you will wonder how others hear and see what you do not, but that’s okay. Stick with it. This is not a competition after all. We are simply learning to slow down and notice what is already there.
