“Money is the sandpit of the soul.” That’s a line from Irish rock band Fontaines DC, and I think it’s true. Just as the imagination and ideas of kids show up in the way they play in a sandpit at school, so the values and longings of our souls show up in the way we “play” with money.
It’s possible to work on techniques in the sandpit, but we have to be willing to do some soul work—to examine our desires and intentions—or else we might start to look more like the sandpit than the sandpit looks like us.
