Every single truck Rivian sells loses the company more than $30,000. It is undoubtedly a very cool vehicle, and is likely the highest quality truck you can buy in many respects. But the company is going to have to make serious changes to still be viable within a few years.
There are so many good things you can spend your money on, all of which can be justified for a host of meaningful reasons. But what you have to watch out for is justifiable spending decisions accumulating to an unsustainable aggregate. The lifestyle equivalent of ending up with an incredible, high-quality, aesthetically pleasing truck that may go out of business.
Sometimes we have to spend with more creativity, or more patience, or more discipline, or at fewer intervals. This is not to suggest we don’t try to live the best life possible, but that “the best life possible” might not always revolve around saying yes to everything right now.
