Big problems, small actions

Most of the time a big problem seems to demand a big solution, a loud and complex action. But that’s an illusion.

To begin with, a big problem doesn’t get to be big all at once. Big problems are compounded little ones. There’s no such thing as suddenly waking up in a job you hate but feel stuck in because of the lifestyle it affords (thought the realization may hit you suddenly!). That’s a big problem that is really an accumulation of many smaller ones over time.

And by the same principle, the same is true for the actions that will turn into solutions. You won’t solve the problem of waking up in a job you hate but feel stuck in for lifestyle reasons by immediately quitting, or by looking for some other dramatic solution. But there are plenty of smaller actions you can commit to that can move you in the direction you want to go.

The hard thing about small actions is believing enough in their power to simply start doing them.
