“Hidden Demon Uncovered in 18th-Century Painting” is the title of an article in the Wall Street Journal this week. And I suppose a healthy part of our lives out to be the regular restoration of ourselves, so to speak, so we can uncover our own demons while we are still able to address them head-on.
The demons we face in our “money scripts” are as varied as our childhoods and life experiences, but we all have them in some form or fashion. They are the hang ups that keep us from talking about money, or from saving in healthy ways, or from spending in healthy ways, or from seeking contentment and worth in appropriate places.
The key is not to paint over them for some future generation to deal with. Name them, talk about them, seek help, and keep going.
