Don’t be a mark

Every year when January rolls around, economists and market commentators all of one accord will blast out their grandest, vaguest, most hedged predictions for the coming year. They are almost always wrong, and when they are not wrong they are lucky.

Not only is there no value in this exercise, there is negative value. Any time spent paying attention to these predictions is not just wasted time, it’s wasted time with a decent probability of wasting your money.

Any investment strategy or tactic that relies on an annual prediction coming true is not a sound strategy or tactic.

Do the work, don’t be a mark.
