Much attention is paid–and often rightfully so–to habits and processes as primary means of achieving some end.
But while it’s true that we can sometimes force character change by our behavior–e.g., we can become generous by simply starting to give, or become savers by starting to save–it’s also true that at some point we have to reckon with whether or not we actually want the character change in question.
This is something of a two-sided coin. There are simple ways in the short term to get us started on some path, to begin, but the sustainability of that path will often require a significant amount of want-to.
So what sort of person do you want to be? And how bad do you want it?
