Discernment

I’m sorry, but you cannot treat all your life’s priorities as equals through time. You will have to set down certain priorities for a bit in order to pick up others. This is normal and healthy. In fact, this is more normal and healthy than attempting to infinitely juggle the impossible. You can’t be in two places at once, much less ten. And neither can your time or your dollars.

Part of living a healthy life is learning and practicing the skill of discernment, which is not about choosing good things over bad things (though this is important!), but rather choosing which good thing at this particular time. Of course not all good things are mutually exclusive, but inevitably there will be times when they are in relative conflict and we must choose.

When those times come, do your best, involve other people, and give yourself grace.
